Freemasonry and America
America is indeed a monument to the principles
and ideas of the founding fathers--a monument to the truth we seek, to
principle, to self sacrifice, to the loyalty and devotion of its people.
And it is correct to say that our kind of
America is a monument to the principles and ideas of Freemasonry, not only
because of the accord in principles and ideals, but also because the majority of
our founding fathers were Freemasons. Masons have an inherent right to
say, Behold the flag of our country, an emblem conceived by Freemasons and
representing Masonic ideals. --Rear Admiral Homer N. Wallin at Seattle
Washington, in 1955
Its Power
There is no difference among men that Freemasonry may not
overcome.
There is no conflict that Freemasonry may not dissipate.
There is no chasm among nations of good will which Freemasonry may not bridge...
The ceremonies and events of this solemn and historic
occasion deepen our conviction that Freemasonry is necessary and serviceable to
advance the frontiers of freedom and secure for humanity the blessings of peace
and progress, prosperity and happiness. --Grandmaster Camilo Osias of
the Philippine Islands, speaking at the making of Japanese Premier, Ichiro
Hotoyama, a Master Mason (March 26, 1955)
